Who is it for?
This training is designed for those who would like to develop their ability in self-presentation and speaking situations such as:
- speaking to an audience
- speaking within a meeting
- speaking 1-to-1 such as in interview
- leading or running a group
- telephone communication
- other specialised forms of self-presentation such as customer service, selling, pitching, negotiating etc
- in work or in life
Content
This session will include:
- introduction to powerful learning principles offered by comedy and improvisation, and how they can empower your presentation abilities, for instance...
- learning from the comedian: courage, appeal, individuality, organic humour, authority, crowd control
- learning from the improviser: spontaneity, responsiveness, integrity, authenticity, holding attention, instinct, playfulness
- comedy and improvisation based exercises to get you into a space where lively, creative, spontaneous and humorous self-expression is easy and natural
- opportunity to practice your own form of self-presentation, with constructive feedback and suggestion from tutor and group, and with video feedback if required
- addressing your particular issues in presentation, including problems you wish to overcome or qualities you want to develop
A pre-workshop questionnaire which you will complete ahead of the session provides the opportunity to identify particular aspects which you want to work on.
Outcomes
At the end of the session, you can expect to have:
- connected with your own instinctive ability to present yourself in a way that is true to you and authentic to an audience
- practised being improvisational and spontaneous, in your ability to think on your feet, respond to unexpected developments, and turn problems into creative opportunities
- accessed your individual sense of humour and practised applying it
- improved your ability to engage with and have positive impact on an audience
- acquired techniques and strategies for increasing confidence and overcoming nerves
- learned how to master your material and give basic structure to any presentation, for maximum impact and memorability

This is an exciting, innovative and fun training which draws on methods from comedy and improvisation to provide an individualised learning experience in the art of self prsentation and public speaking
Beyond this session
This training is an initial element in a programme of ongoing personal and professional development which Positive Comedy can provide. Other elements include:
- follow-up group sessions
- one-to-one coaching
These components are intended to ensure that skills acquired in the primary session continue to be integrated into professional practice, and that any problems encountered in applying the original learning can be resolved. This hugely increases the cost benefit of the training at modest cost.
